Artistic Overlapping Mirrored Inlay Cutting Board

Artistic Overlapping Mirrored Inlay Cutting Board

$115.00

The woods used in this cutting board are black walnut, padauk, and hard maple - including some pieces of curly maple and birds-eye maple. This cutting board features a design I have not since done of mirroring the woods used for the inlays on each side. The mirrored design and birds eye maple make this board one of my favorites that I have ever made!

I think of my cutting boards as functional art; many people cut on one side and leave the other side to display. All of my cutting boards are completely one of a kind and made mainly from scrap or recycled hard wood. Many of the cutting boards have wood with cracks or knots that otherwise would have been scrapped, but instead, I fill the “imperfections” with food-safe epoxy for a unique splash of color!

Every piece of wood is cut to size before being individually picked and rearranged to find the perfect pattern. Then, all the pieces are glued together, planed, and cut again to size before any design is even begun. After the design is finished, I ensure the board is flat again before sanding it with two different grits. After the first round of sanding, I fill any knots, cracks, or gaps with epoxy to make sure the cutting board is as sanitary and long lasting as possible. I sand the board one more time to get it perfectly smooth and flat before applying 3 layers of finishes.
