Simple Artistic Cutting Board
All of my cutting boards are made mainly from scrap or recycled wood. Many cutting boards have wood with cracks or knots that otherwise would have been scrapped, but instead, I fill the “imperfections” with food-safe epoxy for a unique splash of color!
Every piece of wood is cut to size before being individually picked and rearranged to find the perfect pattern. Then, all the pieces are glued together, planed, and cut again to size before any design is even begun. After the design is finished, I ensure the board is flat again before sanding it with two different grits. After the first round of sanding, I fill any knots, cracks, or gaps with epoxy to make sure the cutting board is as sanitary as possible. I sand the board one more time to get it perfectly smooth and flat before applying 3 layers of finishes.
